Our Story

More then six years ago now, Wellbeing Fitness had become a fully established business. We had six training studios, employed 14 staff and delivered nearly 1000 personal training sessions a month. Because one of our directors, Ian Spiby had spent over thirty years as a lecturer in teacher training at a university, we decided that we were in a position to offer a Level 3 Personal Training Diploma.

It would be for people who either wanted a career in the fitness industry or simply those who were keen on training and wanted to take their own practice to a higher level. And what’s more, we were in an ideal position to do it – we were at the heart of the industry, up-to-date and actually DOING the job of personal training whereas from what we gathered, many other providers from colleges and the like were not only old-fashioned but the staff had frequently never taken a personal training session with a real client for years!

So we began investigating the best way to go about it. The result was the establishment of the Wellbeing Fitness Education Centre. IanS, with his long experience of conducting validations at university advised us that if we were going to offer a Personal Training Diploma, we wanted it to be hands-on, relevant and accessible so that students who passed the course would be fully confident to stand up by the side of other professionals such as osteopaths and physiotherapists in the health and fitness industry.

The course had to be of a standard that an insurance company would offer working insurance to anyone who passed the course, so over the next eighteen months we teamed up with professional bodies and insurance companies to make sure that we had achieved that gold standard. The icing on the cake came when we appointed Kieran Sharpe as our Head of Education, a highly qualified man with years of experience in both devising and lecturing on health and fitness courses.

The Level 3 Diploma was a huge success and this led us to go into partnership with the owners of other fitness providers. Again, the success rate has been phenomenal and we now have over 30 satellite centres all over the country delivering our course and adding considerably to their revenue at the same time.

So What Makes The Wellbeing Fitness Diploma Qualification So Different?

The reason we guarantee insurance is because there are so many sub-standard training courses offered on the internet which would not be recognised by insurance companies and so inevitably, they would not be legally permitted to work.
